Kande Hein, MBA
Independent Scentsy Director
Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in our team.
My name is Kande, and I'd love to be your sponsor. This means that you have unlimited access to me and my experience to help you in building and growing your successful Scentsy business!
Scentsy was born in the USA in 2004. In September 2011 Scentsy expanded into Ireland and Germany and on September 1, 2013, opened its doors for Scentsy Australia and Mexico. On August 10, 2014, we then expanded to France, Spain and Austria. On the 10 March 2015, we expanded into New Zealand! This is really an exciting and fast growing company to be a part of!
Scentsy began with a simple idea — a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles — and quickly grew into one of the most successful direct selling companies in the world. This wickless concept is simply decorative ceramic warmers designed to melt scented wax with a heating element instead of a traditional wick and flame.
Entrepreneurs Heidi and Orville Thompson encountered the product line at a home show in early 2004, purchased the tiny company, and moved Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho, USA, where the company’s first home office was a 40-foot ocean shipping container on a small sheep farm. The Thompsons were inspired by how fragrance brings powerful emotions and memories to the surface — without the safety risks of a burning candle — and launched Scentsy as a party-plan company that same year. Scentsy joined the U.S.A. Direct Selling Association (DSA) in 2004 and enrolled its first Independent Consultant. Since then, the company has expanded operations, hired a strong executive team, extended its product line, innovated around the Scentsy business opportunity, and received numerous awards for its growth and ethical business practices. Scentsy was named the number one consumer products company on the 2010 Inc. 500 list, ranked among the top 100 on the 2011 Inc. 500 list, is ranked number 25 in the 2014 Direct Selling News Global 100 list of top direct selling companies, and received the DSA’s 2010 and 2011 Success Awards and the DSA’s 2009 Rising Star Award. The US Direct Selling Association (DSA) elected Orville Thompson as its new chairman for the 2013-2014 term.

Scentsy's electric scented wax warmers offer a flame free alternative to traditional scented candles and tart burners. In Europe, Australia and New Zealand our warmers use a heating element rather than a light bulb to gently warm the wax. Once melted the wax only reaches just above body temperature. As we only warm and not burn our wax no soot, smoke or toxins are released, only beautiful fragrances.
Our warmers are a two piece (occasionally three) handcrafted ornament. The removable dish makes it easier to dispose of the used wax. Each warmer features an on/off switch on the back with a detachable cord. Every warmer contains LEDs inside to offer a lighting effect.
A Scentsy Bar is a small block of fragrant wax that comes in eight break-apart sections. Using a high-quality, custom paraffin wax blend selected for its superior scent loading capability; melting point and firmness, Scentsy Bars produce some of the most vibrant fragrances possible. Scentsy manufactures all wax products at its headquarters in Meridian, Idaho.
You simply plug the warmer in, drop in one or two wax cubes and enjoy! Each bar of wax (6 cubes) lasts 60 – 80 hours! If you get bored of a fragrance, simply pour the warm fragrant wax back into the pack and then use a different wax. If there is still fragrance remaining, you can leave the cooled wax in the warmer and use the next day!
We have a large selection of warmers and scented waxes plus the Scentsy Buddies, Scent Circles (for the car), laundry fragrance products and a range of body products. You are welcome to visit my website

How To Sell Scentsy Family Products
The fantastic thing about Scentsy is the world really is your oyster! You do what you feel comfortable with.
Some methods of selling can include:
Word of Mouth
Hand catalogues to friends and family. In turn ask them to forward their catalogue onto their friends and family. You will be surprised how many people you can reach just by handing out one catalogue.
If a customer purchases a warmer through you and has it on when friends or family visit, they see (and more importantly smell) first hand the Scentsy products and the hard work has been done for you!
Pamper/Shopping Events
Some consultants choose to sell Scentsy via local pamper evenings and shopping events. These are great for reaching people you would not otherwise meet and allow the opportunity to hand out leaflets and business cards and show people first hand the Scentsy warmers and fragrances.
Home Parties
Home parties are a popular method of selling as it is a good excuse for hostesses to get friends and family together, have a few glasses of wine and for them to earn half-price and credit off of Scentsy Family products. It is very likely that you will then get further party bookings from attendees of that party and so on. One single party can lead to many many more!
Basket/Envelope Parties
These are parties without you needing to leave your home! For basket parties, you loan a warmer, with some of the fragrance testers and a Scentsy buddy to a hostess and in their own time they show to friends and family. They still earn half-price and hostess credit on the sales they make! An envelope party is another option for hostesses who are not local to you. Simply send them some catalogues and order forms, together with some wax samples (I will show you how to make these), they then hand the catalogues to their friends and family. Again, they will receive all the usual hostess benefits.
Online
The internet has transformed the business of direct selling. Gone are the days of only selling locally!
Scentsy provide you with three months free subscription to your own personal website. It is optional as to whether you want to continue with this subscription after the three months end, but I use it as a marketing tool online as people always assume that businesses have a website in this day and age. Within the first three months, we were successfully achieving sales through our website which in turn more than enough pays the monthly $13 NZD subscription fee. The website subscription is a “switch on and off” option with no tie in or obligation at all.
Scentsy is a household name in America and with the fast growing pace we have experienced in Australia, there is no reason why it should not have the same recognition in the New Zealand. Scentsy has done the hard work in marketing your website for you. People do go online looking for a Scentsy consultant. On Scentsy’s own website they have the “consultant locator” tool, which directs any enquirer who wants to contact their local consultant.
The other online marketing tool which is extremely powerful are the social media sites. I didn’t realise before I started Scentsy, how many businesses use Facebook as a way to run their business. Behind the scenes of locating old school friends and sharing holiday photos is a hive of business and thousands of potential customers! As soon as I started with Scentsy I created a
Facebook Fan Page and I have achieved sales through this page.
I focus a lot of my time on the online side of my business as I have a young family and with my experience as a social media expert in my career in advertising agencies I have a lot of value to share to you!
There are many more methods and ideas of how to market and sell Scentsy, but these give you a few examples of how you could fit Scentsy into your current family and work commitments.
How Much Can I Earn With Scentsy?
People join Scentsy for many reasons, with many different goals. Some do it for a hobby or to earn some “pocket money”, whilst others are doing it with the aim of making it a full-time career.
Below is a copy of the Scentsy compensation plan which will explain to you what you can earn. This took me a little while to understand, so please don’t worry if all the figures and titles are a little baffling, I will explain it to you if you decide to join (it really isn’t as daunting as it looks!).
As you will see, when you join Scentsy as an “Escential Consultant” you earn 20% commission on all sales. Upon your first promotion to “Certified Consultant” (this is very achievable), your commission rises to 25%. If you decide to build a team (there is absolutely no obligation or pressure to do so) then you will also be given the opportunity to earn from your downline.
There is no rush or race to achieve promotion at all. It really is your business and you run it at your pace.
Scentsy do require you to enter an accumulative order of $275 in one month within a three month period to remain as a consultant. So for example, should you not enter an order in July or August, you would need to have accumulative orders of a minimum of $275 to remain as a consultant. Of course, as your sponsor I will work with you to help ensure that you reach this minimal target.
Thank you for taking the time to read this information pack, I hope you have found it useful and interesting and I hope it has answered any questions you may have.
